So glad I came across this story today! I was building a full SEO/AEO skill in Claude. I have been doing custom SEO for CLAG for awhile, but not with a specific Skill. Today I built that skill, then came across this post and gave it to Claude as well to review and make sure the Skill I had was good! It added a few new things to the skill. So thanks, Elena.
Also, you are all going to start seeing TLDRs at the beginning of stories. Apparently it is key for AEO!
I'm so glad it helped your Claude skill, Dinah! :) On the TLDR label itself is actually a human tendency. Agents don't need the label; they need to know how thick it is.
I am writing a piece for next week that explains why I removed the labels in my posts.
This was to make it invisible to bots, but readable to them.
It is about building a database that can be read by computers, not just adding summaries for humans.
Elena, thank you for this article, I’m the last person to pay attention to these settings but it’s time to get serious about it.
Happy to hear that, Anna! And honestly I am with you, but somtimes it is the boring stuff that moves the needle!
Once you set it up, you can go back to the fun part of building.
Let me know if you run into any weird Substack edge cases while you are tweaking the settings. :)
